Tim called the meeting to order.

  • Treasurer report approved (barry /marie)
  • Katharine Barry was introduced and thanked for hosting the event in the garden at Homes Inc.
  • Lisa ??? was introduced and talked about her catering of the event. Flexatarian cooking! We thanked her for the food.
  • Mark talked about the grants, urged people to apply. We gave out the website address etc.
    • Abby suggested holiday lighting for 13th Street. Discussion ensued, this was outside of time frame for grants
    • Tim proposed motion that the Executive Board may implement holiday presentation, so moved (chuck/lorraine) and approved
  • Marie showed new logo etc. designed by Todd.

McKay proceeded to discuss the Thirteenth Street Craft Beer and Wine Festival.

  • He’s reached out to breweries. Don’t worry, they won’t really be involved till it’s close, that’s they way they work
  • Ross offered to contact Key West brewery for participation
  • Katharine/My offer to do professional letters etc.
  • Tim everything will be run by committee
  • Marie has plans for beer tasting glasses etc., keepsakes, new logo, recyclable plastic
    • tent to sign in, check id, get glasses and tickets
    • competition between breweries will be great selling point

  • Tim described festival…
  • Homes Inc co sponsor, brag on them, benefit, etc.
  • Who’s going to run wine?
    • Bari, no word from her contact…
    • Liquor 007, ask wine distributors, have a wine booth, etc.
    • They will also sell liquor retail
    • question of what license they’ll have, they expect to be able to sell single glasses etc. by that time
    • Mark: no tickets for liquor, that will be direct sale no part of festival
  • John Hornbuckle, Sun-Sentinel, gave presentation
    • establish goals – target vendors, target attendees
    • advertising vs news etc.
    • hire them? design? digital media? paper?
    • Facebook handshake sharing thing, calendar stuff, etc.

    • Tim: budget amount…
    • John: $2500 is good number
    • McKay: it’s worth it
    • Ross: get all businesses, individuals, etc., combine addresses, do email blast at least 3 times
    • William Penn House wants things to hand out at his performances
    • Katharine to generate email blast and flyers
    • Tim proposed that executive committee be empowered to hear and approve a bid from Sun-Sentinel for $2500. So moved (Barry/Marie).
    • Chuck proposed the motion be amended to entertain additional bids, specifically from Ed King (Artserve). Marie suggested up to $3000, on promotions, multiple venues etc. Mark thought this was random… discussion ensued, Tim suggested max $3000 for exec board to approve. Barry suggested just get proposals, find out what the numbers end up to be.
    • Marie makes motion: Executive committee to entertain bids up to $5000 for promotion. Mark second.
    • Somebody suggested getting Sun-Sentinel to be a media sponsor.
    • Motion passed.
  • Discussion: what to do with the banner
  • Discussion, signs in general, etc.
  • Cycle Party. They propose to be at event from 4 to 7. They are losing $1000… they’ll do our event for $500. Motion Marie/??? passed.
  • Entertainment. Kevin presentation. Platforms for individuals. Looking for opportunities, not so much for money. Tim asked them to make a proposal, to be ready at December meeting. Kevin wants to provide proposal for a single venue, perhaps far end of 13th from bandshell.  Lorraine/Barry move to entertain proposals, passed.
  • DJ. JTM not at meeting, was to provide proposal. William Penn House discussion. Mark, we get two people from city, full sound system, when we get the bandshell. Discussion ensued. Proposals in December.
  • Josh Titkin asked to discuss booths. Projecting 25 to 50 vendors. Includes 10 food trucks. (?? conflict with my). $65 to $90 per booth.
    • Tim: any member of alliance gets free booth
    • Marie/lorraine, so moved, passed.
    • Josh, code word for free booths so that it automatically populates to facebook etc.
    • way more than 40 booths
    • Abby: we have more space than we can fill
    • Chuck: food trucks distributed throughout, or a ‘food court’ approach
    • Mark to plan site again like last year? Josh, free form approach.
    • Tim: get some firm commitments by December
    • Josh: vendors don’t plan more than a couple weeks ahead…
  • Tim: antique car show, very cool, etc. He has been the only one involved. Barry offers to take over. It’s a whole different audience to pull in.
