A baker’s dozen of us showed up Saturday morning April 28 at Oddballs Nifty Thrift, to do our part on Make A Difference Day in Fort Lauderdale. Steve and Gail Jacobson, Rob Smith, Tim and Cindy Smith, Rayon Piper, Lorraine Saunders, Christine Fanchi and three kids, Barry Curtis, and I (Chuck Gregory) worked on a variety of tasks:

— Remounted the wheelbarrow sculpture in the median on 13th Street between NE 5th Ter and NE 6th Ave

— Planted a new tree and some plants near Jiffy Lube

— Cleaned up the street and sidewalks

— Mulched several of the plants along 13th Street

I have to say I’m quite proud of the work we did. The street looks great! It’s especially nice to have the metal wheelbarrow sculpture back where it belongs.

Thanks to all who came out. I think this is a pretty good level of participation for a work day. I’m so glad to be part of the Central City Alliance. The workers today came from Middle River Terrace, Lakeridge, and South Middle River, since CCA includes people in all three of those neighborhoods.
